Stiltskin Creative Arts & Theatre Co., a beloved local institution that has brought joy to children and families for 25 years, is facing a significant challenge after severe storm damage jeopardised its future. In December, Storm Darragh’s powerful 90mph winds devastated the company’s Big Top Theatre Tent, a crucial venue that would have more than doubled their capacity for large-scale events.
The loss of the tent, coupled with the forced cancellation of their Christmas shows, has left Stiltskin with a devastating £30,000 shortfall. While the theatre company still has its smaller auditorium, the damage has dealt a severe blow to their operations and cast a shadow over their future.

“Winning a West Country Women’s Award in 2023 was such an honour,” said a representative from Stiltskin. “We’re incredibly grateful for the recognition and the support we’ve received over the years. Now, we’re facing one of our biggest challenges. Losing the Big Top is a huge loss, and the financial impact is substantial.”
Stiltskin has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise the necessary funds to rebuild and continue their vital work in the community. For a quarter of a century, the theatre has inspired children and families through the magic of theatre, fostering creativity and imagination. They are now appealing to the public for help to overcome this setback.

“We’re asking for the community’s support to help us rebuild,” the representative continued. “Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a real difference and help us ensure that Stiltskin can continue to bring the joy of theatre to Plymouth for many years to come.”
The company is particularly hopeful that the network of inspiring women connected to the West Country Women’s Awards will rally behind their cause. They believe that the collective power of this community could be instrumental in helping them reach their fundraising goal.
